The weekend was the first weekend of training for the Somerset 'cow unit'.
We started off on the Friday night with being very slow at cooking hotdogs but by the end of the weekend we were very quick at being able to cook a breakfast and wash and clear up in little time!
Each morning was started with a wake and shake to get us all in an active mood ready for the busy day ahead of us, although for us it seemed like a bit of fun it was preparing us for and early morning start with getting straight into being busy and doing lots of activities.
With many activities throughout the whole weekend that were very enjoyable... they had a meaning behind them that will help us out a lot once we arrive in Japan. Some activities included drinking games (with water!) this was so we learnt that we need to keep hydrated and drink a lot whilst out in Japan. But we also did activities that involved us sitting in groups and writing ideas, for example; what activity we could host to other units whilst on the jamboree.
Along with these activities we did team building ones; building chariots and then racing them, this helped us turn our unit into a family... the best part is, we have a family tree! This is important, as without a close united unit people won’t enjoy the experience as much.
But we did have some free time where the unit could get to know each other more... although this involved a lot of singing, mainly songs from 'Frozen' surprisingly; it was the boys that started it!!
Overall it was a great weekend; we learnt lots, had lots of laughs and met some new people!
